What’s been happening!?

It might seem like July has been a slow month, but that’s only because we haven’t had any public appearances. The creativity hasn’t slowed down one bit, though! Jay is concentrating on a new book, which means we’re going to see the resolution to one of our favorite trilogies in the not-too-distant future! In addition, he’s had a few other brain waves that might turn into awesomeness somewhere down the line!
One of these brain waves should probably be in the “Be a Part of the Giant” section, but since Jay’s creativity was responsible for it, we’re moving it here!
Over the past couple of years Jay’s Godmer cosplay has been evolving to the point where he’s basically a fully-fledged character. This is an awesome thing, but there’s a bit of a problem: it isn’t just one character.
His warblade is his wife, but that wife currently has no name and no backstory. If he’s going to sling her over his shoulder, he should at least know her name. It’s only gentlemanly.
That’s where you come in. We need you to come up with names for this sexy Godmer’s sexy warblade. Think of a name and send it to marketing@obsidiangiant.com (or you can stop by Momento or Steel City Con to let us know, and even hold her in your own two hands). The deadline will be September 1st. The name chosen from your suggestions will be announced in the September newsletter along with…and this is the super cool part…AN EXCLUSIVE NEWSLETTER-RELEASED BACKSTORY WRITTEN BY JAY!!!
There are no rules. The name you choose can be a normal name, it can be a distinctly alien-sounding name, it can be inspired by other Brim characters, it can be reminiscent of her dangerous curves (both in flesh and in axe form). Just send in your suggestions and that battle-hardened, half-naked, alien warrior living inside Jay will choose the one that calls to him!

Un Momento Por Favor
If you could just take a moment to realize that WE HAVE A CONVENTION NEXT WEEKEND!!!!!!
This one is centrally located at the David L Lawrence Convention Center! The hours are 10am – 8pm on Saturday and 10am – 7pm on Sunday, August 5-6! I’m willing to bet that one, or possibly both of those days will see at least Jay and Leah after hours at the burger place that became a slight obsession after 3 Rivers Con….
We have 2 big conventions in the month of August and would love to see you at both of them; however, if you have to pick just one, I might go for this one. It’ll still be huge and have all of the nerdy goodness, but it won’t be as completely packed, so walking should be much easier. Also, if you like the show Supernatural, this is definitely the one you want to hit up. Pretty sure about half the cast is showing up, including the car! Also, COSPLAY KARAOKE…
For the Superfan in all of us
You can see us again the very next weekend! And take the opportunity to hit up one of about 3 dozen celebrity guests for an autograph or picture while you’re there!
We’re headed back to the Monroeville Convention Center for a fun-filled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. That seems like a lot, but we are consistently sad that Con is over on Sunday evening. I suggest the 3-day pass, so you can hang out as much as you want!
SCC still has a bunch of celebrities at this one, although it looks like they’re listening to the fans and toning it down just a bit. It will be nice to see how this one works out. We’ll have plenty of books and other merch available as well as some great conversation and photo-ops with our favorite Godmer. Can’t wait to see you all there!

I mean, that’s pretty much the gist of it. We would be super appreciative if you would leave reviews for any of the books you’ve read on Amazon! We haven’t really pushed Amazon as a place to purchase books, but reviews of any kind are the lifeblood of any author. As always, we want to know what you really think. We aren’t looking for fake reviews. Thank you all so much in advance!

We want to be smart with marketing and make sure that the types of people we reach are the ones who will love our stuff! If you know of any Newsletters, Magazines, events that would allow flyers, Playbills, local websites, literature-related websites, etc. where advertising for us would make sense, please let us know!
Audiobooks
Audiobooks are still happening. The giants are still accepting submissions. The good news is we have so much going on this summer! The bad news is we probably won’t have much movement on the audiobooks until after convention season. Lots of writing, drawing, and editing is also being done. We will keep submissions open until decisions have been made!
Step one is to email us at marketing@obsidiangiant.com.
We’ll send you the excerpts.
You record yourself reading the excerpts.
You send them back to marketing@obsidiangiant.com (or I’ll set up a drop box if files get too large).
We review all the submissions and choose the best person for each.
You record the whole book and get paid. We’ll also be available as a reference for other publishers and authors you may want to work with. That last part is true even if you aren’t chosen for one of our current books!
